A gas-fired hot water boiler can be simply understood as a type of boiler product that uses natural gas, city gas and other fuels to heat water through a burner to achieve heating and heat supply. It is highly favored by people for its advantages such as high thermal efficiency, simple operation, stable performance, environmental protection and energy conservation. During the usage process, for the thermal efficiency and service life of the boiler, we usually recommend that customers use softened water. However, many customers would ask us what the hazards would be if softened water was not used.
If gas hot water boilers do not use softened water, the following hazards will occur:
1. Reduce the thermal efficiency of the boiler
Unsoftened water contains a large amount of impurities, and long-term use will cause scaling. After scaling occurs in the boiler, the heat transfer performance of the heating surface will deteriorate, resulting in the heat from fuel combustion not being transferred to the boiler water in a timely manner, which leads to a decrease in the boiler's thermal efficiency.
2. Corrosion
Impurities contained in water can cause corrosion to the metal surface of the boiler, resulting in thinning of the wall thickness, perforation and other phenomena. In severe cases, it may also cause damage to components, affecting the safe operation of the boiler.
3. The heating surface is damaged
After the boiler is fouled, its heat transfer performance deteriorates. The heat from fuel combustion cannot be transferred to the feed water in time, resulting in an increase in the furnace temperature. Therefore, it is easy to cause an increase in the temperature difference on both sides of the boiler's heating surface. Under the pressure inside the pot, bulging occurs, and in severe cases, the papermaking boiler may even burst.
If a gas-fired hot water boiler does not use softened water, it is prone to scaling, which can damage the boiler's components. In severe cases, it may also affect the safe operation of the boiler. Therefore, when using a gas-fired hot water boiler, we should use softened water as much as possible and frequently check whether the boiler is scaling. Once it occurs, it must be removed immediately; otherwise, the boiler cannot operate properly.
